Entertainment - MOTOWN: 50 AND NOT OUT - WWW.GRINDMODECONNECT.COM

Title : "MOTOWN: 50 AND NOT OUT - WWW.GRINDMODECONNECT.COM ".Entertainment,Internet  Marketing,Marketing This year marks the 50-year anniversary of Motown records, one of the most iconic black music labels ever.  That’s half a century of funk and soul that includes too many classics to mention here as the catalogues of household names like Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops and Diana Ross and The Supremes will testify (for starters).       Of course Motown, as an imprint, continued to release music decades after these acts had split up or signed elsewhere – but it is this golden era that the label is best remembered for.         However, even within this much-feted golden era, there can be found lesser-known gems.  Tracks by artists who are not so well known to the masses – almost regardless of the actual quality of the music.  While names like Willie Hutch recorded great tracks that have been extensively sampled, he is certainly not one of the first names that people will mention when Motown is spoken of.  Add to this those like Chris Clark, a beautifully voiced yet relatively little known white female singer who recorded some fine moments for Motown.        While it is certainly worth investigating further, this editorial is not actually here to send you all out looking for undiscovered or rare soul music, and of course there are plenty of places aside from Motown should you wish to do that.  What the rare, unknown or unreleased from one of the most recognized names in music history can do is show that it can take more than a good track on an established (landmark) label to get you out there.         So many people seem to be chasing a record deal that they often forget that only once the deal is struck does the real work begin.  Promotions, touring, recording, meetings – all of this and more are part of being an artist.  Not just now but back in the days when Berry Gordy’s motor town label was dropping Funk Brothers produced hits.         But that aside, Happy 50th Anniversary to Motown – a truly great label that has given countless millions of people around the world real joy through its music.       Tom Clover – of WWW.GRINDMODECONNECT.COM
